Everything Clayne Crawford Has Done Since Being Fired From 'Lethal Weapon' (2024)

Landing on a hit TV show comes with a lot of pressure and expectations while filming, and the truth is that things just don't work out for some projects. Tensions flare on set, with some actors getting physical with others, and directors even getting involved.

Lethal Weapon was off to a solid start, but after some behind the scenes drama, Clayne Crawford was let go from the show. In the time since his dismissal, Crawford has kept a low profile, but he has remained busy.

Let's take a closer look at Clayne Crawford and what he has been doing since Lethal Weapon.

Clayne Crawford Was Canned From 'Lethal Weapon'

2016 marked the beginning of Lethal Weapon on the small screen, and at first blush, it seemed like Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford were a good match. They had exceptional on-screen chemistry, but behind the scenes, things were not as happy as some thought.

During his two seasons on the show, Crawford had multiple incidents, with one involving Wayans, and another that allegedly saw him yelling at kids.

Crawford was apologetic, issuing a statement on what had taken place.

"I absolutely love, respect and care for my crew and cast, and would never intentionally jeopardize so many jobs. I an incredibly sorry if my passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on our set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts. Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents," he said.

The actor would eventually give his side of things, claiming that he was yelling at an adult and not at nearby children, which had been alleged. Despite his apology, Crawford was canned from the show, being replaced by American Pie star, Sean William Scott.

In what became a publicized firing, Crawford's dismissal from the show changed everything in an instant for the actor. As you can imagine, he has worked quite a bit, though the size of the projects simply aren't what they once were.

Clayne Crawford Has Been On An Episode Of 'Into The Dark'

In regard to his television work, things have been quiet for Crawford on the small screen. His most notable work has been on an episode of Into the Dark. In fact, his lone appearance on that show is his only post-Lethal Weapon work on TV.

"Titled “They Come Knocking,” it centers on Nathan (Crawford), who, after losing his wife to cancer, decides to take his daughters (Langford’s Claire and Lia McHugh’s Maggie) on a family road trip. The adventure doesn’t go quite as planned when they find themselves “in the crosshairs of terrifying supernatural entities,” the episode synopsis reveals," wrote IB Times.

The episode has just 5.8 stars on IMDb, which shows that fans weren't really feeling what the episode brought to the forefront. That being said, many fans, especially those that feel like Crawford got an unfair shake from Lethal Weapon, were just happy to see him performing on the small screen once again.

Thankfully, the actor isn't relegated to only making appearances on TV, and since his Lethal Weapon stint, he's done work in film, too.

Clayne Crawford Was Also In 'The Killing Of Two Lovers'

In 2020, Crawford made his lone film appearance in The Killing of Two Lovers. This was a major achievement for Crawford, who has been steadily picking up the pieces after being dismissed from his former series.

Getting the project off the ground was a huge feat for Crawford, who reached out to Robert Machoin to make it happen.

"So I said, ‘Robert, if I give us X amount of dollars, can we go shoot a feature?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I’ve got this short,’ and I’m like, ‘Dude, we can’t think a short, it’s not going to help us," Crawford said.

"It was really kind of the short film of how now the children are going to look at their father who was a hero to them – this tough guy. Now he’s laying there, bloody in the street. So we built on that," he continued.

While not a huge hit, the film did offer the actor the chance to reignite his passion for acting, and to show everyone that he still has the goods.
